Tidewater's source of water supply is comprised exclusively of safe, drought-resistant and abundant groundwater sources, which have consistently earned high marks for taste and quality.
Tidewater has been honored with numerous awards including the 2008 Best in the Business Award for medium-sized businesses, the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics, and the Best Tasting Water in Delaware by the Delaware Rural Water Association.
Tidewater's rates and financial matters are regulated by the Delaware Public Service Commission (PSC). Its service areas, water pumpage, well permits, production limits, etc. are regulated by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control (DNREC). The company's operations are also overseen by the Delaware Health and Social Services (DHSS), Division of Public Health, and other government agencies.
Through Tidewater's subsidiary, White Marsh Environmental Systems, Inc., Tidewater is able to provide water and wastewater contract operations services. Tidewater Environmental Services, Inc. is an affiliated company providing regulated wastewater utility services to developers and customers.
Southern Shores Water Company LLC
Southern Shores primarily provides water service to approximately 2008 customers in Sea Colony Development in Sussex County, Delaware. The system is interconnected with the Bethany Bay District of Tidewater Utilities, Inc. to supplement demand for water as needed. Water supplied to Sea Colony customers is derived solely from groundwater from an Aquifer known as the Manokin Formation.
